CDMA drops Analog Service

Important Notice for our VIVA Clients

On February 15, 2008 the FCC mandate for maintaining analog cellular service will expire. While our underlying carrier (Verizon) intends to continue to invest in and expand the digital CDMA 2000 and EVDO networks, they do not currently plan to support analog service beyond this date.

Therefore, after February 15, 2008, devices that depend on analog radio coverage for full or partial functionality may no longer be able to provide such functionality in our markets. Some examples may include (but are not limited to):

  • If a device is “analog only”, no service will be available
  • In areas where digital service is impeded and analog coverage is relied upon to provide service, this coverage will not be available
  • Roaming to an area with no CDMA coverage may be problematic

New VIVA clients are still being accepted onto service and current VIVA clients can still buy airtime from Pharos International.

This change has no affect on our GSM clients.
