Locus Telecom announces Drop of CallPlus/Locus/TDMA Activation
Pharos International received notification from Locus Telecom that that no new TDMA activations (kits or phone packages) will occur after December 31, 2005.
Current TDMA clients (CallPlus/Locus Mobile/Locus Platinum) support shall continue.
(Q): What does this mean?
(A): If one wants to activate new TDMA service, the activation must occur before December 31, 2005.
(Q): I am already a TDMA client. Is my service going to stop on January 1st?
(A): Locus Telecom has indicated that current TDMA clients can continue to buy and activate refill pins to continue their service.
(Q): What if my service has expired, will I be able to renew after January 1st.
(A): This issue was not addressed, but it would be safer to assume that re-activations will probably not occur.
(Q): How long might I expect my current TDMA service to continue.
(A): No time line has been provided in the migration to the Cingular-gsm network.
(Q): I have VIVA (CDMA) or Locus/Oxygen (GSM) service. Will these calling plans be affected?
(A): No. Activations and services for CDMA and GSM plans are not affected by the TDMA service changes. Actually, active support for these plans are stronger than ever.
